What is the Suzuki Method?
The Suzuki Method was developed in the mid-1900s by Shinichi Suzuki. He observed that every child learns to speak their native language through listening, repetition, and encouragement, and he applied these same principles to music education. For this reason, the Suzuki Method is often called the “Mother Tongue Approach.”
-
Every child can learn
Just as every child learns to speak their native language, every child can learn music when taught in a nurturing and structured way. -
Early beginning
Children can successfully begin music study at a young age, when the brain is especially receptive to learning through listening and imitation. -
Learning by listening
Students listen daily to the music they are learning, developing a strong ear, accurate intonation, and natural musicality before reading music. -
Step-by-step mastery
Skills are broken down into small, achievable steps so students build confidence and success at every stage. -
Repetition with purpose
Previously learned pieces are regularly reviewed to reinforce technique, deepen musical expression, and build a secure foundation. -
Positive encouragement
A supportive, encouraging environment helps children develop confidence, focus, and a love of learning. -
Parental involvement
Parents attend lessons and guide home practice, becoming partners in their child’s musical journey. -
Individualized pacing
Each child progresses at their own pace, ensuring solid understanding and long-term success rather than rushed advancement. -
Learning in community
Group classes allow students to learn alongside peers, creating a joyful, motivating environment where children learn from each other. -
Character development through music
The Suzuki Method values kindness, perseverance, discipline, and joy—developing the whole child, not just the musician.

Tammy, mother of Selah
"Lessons with Cammi are a delightful time we look forward to, and we leave inspired, encouraged, and challenged to learn new things, and polish acquired music goals. I say "we" because as a parent, my participation in observing, taking notes, and learning ways for my child to practice at home is encouraged and welcomed."
Nicole, mother of Addi
"Cammi is so much more than a teacher! She ministers to the students in such a loving and grace-filled way that it’s impossible for them not to love her. She encourages, guides, and teaches them with a joy that is contagious. My daughter went from a shy and introverted young girl, to a confident and strong violinist under Cammi’s tutelage. We will forever be grateful to Cammi for the love she poured into our daughter’s musical education. She truly makes learning fun and exciting."
Jessica, mother of Callie
"Our daughter really enjoyed her lessons with Cammi and her confidence grew so quickly as she was able to play a song after her first practice. Cammi’s method is great for building confidence quickly and without frustration."
